Ethiopia’s Meseret Defar wins 5000m in Sweden
(TsehaiNY) – Former world record holder and Olympic champion, Meseret Defar won the women’s 5000m at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday August 6th.
Meseret who was looking to set a new world record and reclaim the title was in a close race against recent European champion Alemitu Bekele. Although Meseret fell short in her attempt to set a new world record, her time of 14:42.46. 2 was enough for her to emerge victorious.
