The rapper and informal educator, Jeremy Cool Habash, exposes us to the complex situations facing Ethiopian-Israeli youth. Jeremy works towards changing the humiliated and depressed image of the Ethiopian community in Israel, both in its own eyes and in the eyes of Israeli society, by bringing members of the Ethiopian community closer to their tradition.

Danielle, a Jewish woman who grew up as a Muslim in Morocco, now lives in Israel and is in a struggle for the right to bring up her son. Nine years after she was forced to leave him, she returns to Morocco to fight for custody. She sets off, apprehensive about the meeting with her Muslim family, and the difficulties she expects to face due to local law. To her surprise, she finds that the real difficulties come from the society in which she lives, the Jewish one.

Now as U.S. citizens, they exercise Constitutional rights mobilizing and organizing their community members for taxicab workers’ rights, DC Voting Rights, Voting Rights in Ethiopia and Humane Immigration Reform. From Ethiopia to the United States, Ethiopians stand up for freedom and democracy.

In 1990, Dr. Rick Hodes was hired by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee to set up a series of medical clinics in Ethiopia. This documentary provides a rare look at Dr. Hodes, capturing his remarkable dedication to making life richer for some of the worlds most vulnerable children. Bewoket (which means by the will of God) is the name of one of the three Ethiopian boys whose stories are the basis for this inspiring film.

Adera is the heart wrenching story of an Ethiopian refugee’s struggle to survive in the city of Johannesburg. Marlam struggles to provide for her two children back home and, through a series of twisted circumstances, ends up as a surrogate mother for a wealthy Ethiopian couple, Tiru and Fre. Their fate is tied to that of Biru’s, the shady middle man who is only interested in the money. As this unique African story unfolds, the true cost of dreams is revealed and each life is changed forever.
