Who Will Host the 2011 Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America Event?
For close to three decades the Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA) has brought countless of Ethiopians together. Although the weeklong event- which has been hosted in cities across America and Canada- is centered on a soccer tournament, the event offers plenty more.
Recently the 27th annual event took place in San Jose, California. Meanwhile the host city for 2011 has yet to be chosen.
According to ESFNA, the host city should have been announced in early July. Public Relations Manager Fasil Abebe tells TsehaiNY, “Both Atlanta and Toronto have made a strong case however; there are vital requirements that are still missing from both cities.”
As anxiousness mounts from organizers in Atlanta and Toronto while they await the federation’s announcement, sources inside ESFNA tell TsehaiNY that a third city could become a possible option.
Fasil, who did not confirm nor deny the possibility of a third city commented, “It would not be the first time this happened. However we are looking at Toronto and Atlanta and hoping to receive the required items.”
“A decision will be made by the end of this month,” Fasil added.
