That Was Fast! Ethiopia’s Haile Reconsiders Retirement
In our recent poll on Haile Gebrselassie’s retirement, the majority who voted and said this just wasn’t it for Haile might be right on!
Even Haile’s Manager, Jos Hermens, had his doubts that this was the end.
It can be said that Haile has a close relationship with Jos. In a past interview with running times Haile said of his manager, “I never see him as [a] manager…always he looks like a brother or a father and son.”
This past Monday Jos told TsehaiNY that he feels Haile just needed some time and that he will run again.
Today, three days after Haile’s announcement, the Associated Press reports Jos had a chance to speak to Haile who has said, “Let me think about it [retirement].”
Haile has set and broken 27 world records during his career and currently holds the world record for the fastest marathon time of 2 hours, 3 minutes, 59 seconds.
