From, AddisTunes: I like music. I know, big surprise…right? But do you ever have this aching feeling that music isn’t really music any more? Sometimes, it’s kind of music-y…or music-esque…or music-like, but not exactly music. Thankfully, there is a young pianist from Addis Ababa who is helping to preserve the rich musical history of Ethiopia with REAL MUSIC! It looks like the Ethio Jazz torch has been passed to Samuel Yirga and he’s going for the gold ladies and gentlemen.
Apparently, he’s come of age rather quickly – having worked with Dub Colossus during some of their projects. He is slated to drop his debut solo release in August 2011 on Real World Records – which was founded by Peter Gabriel to provide talented artists from around the world with access to state-of-the-art recording facilities and audiences beyond their geographic region… For More Visit AddisTunes
