Ethiopian Women Dominate in 5k at Adidas Grand Prix

World Champion Tirunesh Dibaba (15:11.34) finished 1st place in the Women’s 5,000 at The Adidas Grand Prix. The event, which is the fifth stop on the inaugural 14-meet IAAF Diamond League Circuit, was held today in Icahn Stadium on New York City’s Randall’s Island.
Following Tirunesh Dibaba across the finish line was Sentayehu Ejigu (15:12.99) and Sule Utura (15:16.61).
The event showcased several Olympian global stars. Missing from the competition was 100m world record holder Usain Bolt. Bolt, who withdrew from the meet last month due to a leg injury, made a surprise appearance as a spectator.
