Source: CBS DENVER, A teenagerfrom Ethiopia is getting some remarkable treatment for a heart defect in Colorado. Doctors in his homeland tried to fix the problem but it wasn’t until a surgery at The Children’s Hospital that Akwak could look forward to a long and healthy life. Akwak has photos from his birthdays in Ethiopia where they celebrate with candles in a loaf of homemade bread. Two weeks ago Akwak was in the intensive care unit after life-saving heart surgery. “We went and opened up the tied-off artery,” Dr. Mike Schaffer said. “We still need to do more studies to make sure that his lungs will tolerate the blood flow.”… Read More & Watch Video
