Although we at TsehaiNY talked about creating a website for the Ethiopian community a couple of years before its inception, on Wednesday, October 10, 2007, TsehaiNY.com launched. Our vision was simple. Create a platform for the Ethiopian community within the New York and New Jersey area and then expand areas of this platform to include the greater Ethiopian population.
It is with clear understanding that what we do would not have been possible if it was not for the many individuals and organizations who allowed us to enter their lives and tell their story. Since our establishment a year ago, we have highlighted numerous professionals and featured a wide array of community functions. We have raised awareness on issues that affect us such as domestic violence and have featured the epidemic of orphans in Ethiopia. Our YouTube channel continues to develop, providing an illustration of the Ethiopian face of New York, a sight that probably would have gone unseen to many.
A year later, we have launched TsehaiNY TV, TTV. TTV is a weekly program that aims to reach a wider audience.
